Every citizen of Vallation is dangerous. Each and every one survives in a war-torn and demon-ravaged world - the weak and easily intimidated do not last long. But the members of Than are not just dangerous - they are terrifying. In a world that has mostly abandoned religion and faith, Than burns with a psychotic sort of faith that is as bizarre as it is intimidating. Every seven days they gather together, black-robed and eager, to feed their most dangerous inhabitants - the vampires.
In truth, they are not fanatics - or, more accurately, they are not merely fanatics. The ritual drainings serve many purposes - they rid the Than district of criminals, intimidate the other clans… and suck their own citizens deeper and deeper into a web of sacrifice and nearly religious fervor. While some members are, indeed, actually insane, the leader believes that without their sacrifices and willingness to shed blood, there will never be peace or safety. Than lives for the day that their sacrifices and bloodlust will not be necessary. But, of course, if they are necessary…. there’s no harm in having a little fun with them, right?
While Than does tolerate vampires, they are only permitted to live in the slums of the Bran district, and outside of the ritual sacrifices they are never allowed to feed. Than is also the only clan with a class system that approaches slavery - their “servants” have even fewer rights and opportunities than the vampires. Than openly hates - and is hated by - Totum and the Neutralists, but if Nikephoros disapproves of their vampire houseguests, they at least have no room to talk when it comes to ritual killings and bloodlust. Than does not necessarily trust Infernus… but they do make regular use of their services in order to keep a steady supply of sacrifices and servants streaming into their districts.
Rais District: The border district between the rest of Than and Nikephoros. Its wall is built unusually high to defend against intruders from enemy territory.
Sati District: The ruling district of Than. Only the richest - or most zealous - live here, for in this district lies Abaddon, the Place of Sacrifices.
Dahmer District: The outermost district of Than. Most hunters and traders make their homes here.
Bran District: The innermost district of Than. These are the slums where the lowest of low make their home - the poor, the servants, and the vampires.
Opinions of other clans:
Tolerated: Inferus
Dislikes: Nikephoros
Hates: Neutralists, Totum
